Italy funded industrial projects in Iraq by a "UNIDO" Bar News | 07-12-2010

The Organization of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with Italy on a project in Iraq, the beginning of 2011 the value of three million euros, for the development of industrial zones and increase the volume of investments in the country.

She explained the information office of the United Nations in a press statement that "Italy will fund this project, which takes two years and done in collaboration with the World Bank." It said that the project was signed in Vienna between the Director-General (UNIDO) Imikla Canadian and Permanent Representative of Italy to UNIDO, Ambassador Gianni Gizi the presence of the Iraqi Chargé d'affaires Abdul Karim Shwaikh.

The statement noted that the project provides for the development of the capacity of the Iraqi government in planning and design of industrial areas on a permanent basis which requires the creation of a mechanism for cooperation between institutions.

The statement quoted the Director-General of UNIDO as saying he hoped to lead his organization's cooperation with Iraq to establish a market economy able to compete and create job opportunities thanks to the extensive experience gained by the UN Industrial Development Organization for many years
